Architecture & Interiors · Est. on the Victorian coast

Buildings that
hold the light

Atlas & Ash designs calm, enduring places, from coastline to city. Scroll to walk the site with us.

01 — Arrival

We begin
with the ground

Every project starts on site, reading the wind, the light and the way people will arrive.

02 — Interior

Then we shape
the quiet inside

Architecture and interiors drawn as one, by one team, from first sketch to handover.

03 — Night

And we stay
until it glows

Design with delivery built in, so what's drawn is what gets built.

The practice

We design places that feel inevitable. Rooted in their landscape, honest in their materials, and generous to the people who use them every day.

Four studios.
One standard.

Concept to completion,
under one roof.

Method · Live model

From a line
to light

  1. 01The lineEvery building starts as a single drawn line.
  2. 02The plinthLifted gently off the headland.
  3. 03The wallsBoard-formed concrete, poured on site.
  4. 04The roofA deep cantilever for shade and shelter.
  5. 05The lightMove the sun. Watch the house through a day.

The studios

Four studios.
One standard

Each studio is built around a different kind of client and led by a specialist from concept to completion.

Material honesty

Three materials.
Used with care

Board-formed concrete showing timber grain in low golden light

i. Concrete

Poured against rough-sawn boards so the wall keeps the memory of timber.

A precise oiled blackbutt timber corner joint

ii. Timber

Australian hardwoods, joined by hand and oiled, never sealed in plastic.

Honed travertine with a thin film of water reflecting the sky

iii. Stone

Honed travertine that softens underfoot and gets better with every year.

How we work

Confidence
at every stage

  1. 01

    Listen

Time on site and with you, before a single line is drawn.

  2. 02

    Draw

Ideas tested in models, light studies and walk-throughs.

  3. 03

    Prove

Cost and program checked with builders while the design is still soft.

  4. 04

    Build

The same team on site, every week, through to handover.
